Experience

Brittany Cohen has handled countless cases helping business owners, investors, and prospective business owners break into the cannabis industry in California. A former law clerk at one of the first cannabis dedicated law firms in San Diego, Brittany has experience with cannabis compliance, land use and zoning, licensing and permitting, and civil litigation. She was hired initially to assist in the firm’s cannabis compliance practice area after her Law Review Note on providing employment protections for medical cannabis patients was selected for publication.

Ms. Cohen has assisted in drafting multiple cannabis legislation proposals for local government officers as a lobbying effort to better position the firm’s clients. She has worked extensively on understanding and remaining current in the evolution of cannabis laws and compliance as it relates to zoning, land use, corporate compliance regulations, licensing and intellectual property limitations.

Ms. Cohen graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, magna cum laude, where she was ranked in the top 6% of her graduating class. Brittany earned her B.S., cum laude from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (“UNLV”), where she majored in Psychology and had a double minor in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. She also played division 1 soccer for UNLV, in addition to participating in the school’s Google Online Marketing Challenge Team, and working full time for a tech start-up company. In her senior year of college, Ms. Cohen started her own women-owned business, Full Service Contractor, where she negotiated bids for government contracts, specifically in the HVAC industry.
